Visa and Residence Permit
If you are from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, you do not need a visa. However, since you will be studying for more than three months, you have to register with the competent municipal or state authority. Citizens of almost all other countries have to apply for a visa and residence permit.
For instance, you will need:
|What||In which Uni I plan to study||When||Where to ask|
|Student visa for Germany||University of Kassel / Fulda||1st semester||Directly in your home country in the German Consulate|
|Student visa for Belgium||University of Ghent||2nd semester||In the Belgium consulate of the country you are currently studying during the 1st semester (in our example Germany)|
|Student visa for France||ISARA-Lyon||3rd semester||In the French Consulate of the country you are currently studying during the 2nd semester (in our example Belgium)|
/!\ Please note that sometimes it may be up to four weeks until the next appointment is available, please make the formalities on time in order to have the good visa.
As a student you must make sure to have health and liability insurance. In the event that your health and liability insurance does not cover the costs of medical evacuation back to your home country, emergency repatriation and personal liability, we advise you to purchase travel insurance as well.
